Mid-career Committee Membership

Volunteer
Application Deadline: Dec 1, 2026
Society for the Teaching of Psychology

The Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP) is accepting nominations (including self-nominations) for ONE new member of the STP Mid-Career Psychology (MCP) Committee. Nominees must be current members of STP and self-define as “mid-career.”  The committee’s definition of mid-career has been broad and inclusive and may be based on years of service, advanced rank, or other criteria. Our definition of mid-career is not restricted to these narrow guidelines, but rather open to any individual who feels they are mid-career. Consistent with our Mission Statement and the Statement on Addressing Systemic Racism and Inequity in STP, we encourage applications from colleagues who are from underrepresented groups and have diverse backgrounds and experiences.

The MCP Committee is comprised of five members who strive to support mid-career faculty by providing community and programming as they try to maintain their passion and vitality as educators, expand and advance their research programs, take on more service/administrative responsibilities, and/or explore other academic endeavors.  The MCP is supervised by the STP Vice President for Membership. The Committee is charged with spearheading activities and opportunities to aid MCPs through education, training, and networking, as well as representing MCP interests in division matters.

Nominations should include a CV and a one-page maximum statement of interest in the position. Please address any past or current involvement in STP, attendance/presentations at STP conferences, and your ability/willingness to potentially travel to the Annual Conference on Teaching for MCP committee business.

Minimum qualifications for MCP Committee members:

  • Active member of the Society for the Teaching of Psychology
  • Self-define as mid-career
  • Able to commit to a three-year term starting in January 2027
  • Able to attend monthly virtual meetings of the MCP committee
