Applications are being accepted for a new Chair for STP’s Diversity Committee, to serve a 3-year term (eligible for one renewal) starting January 1, 2027 and running through December 31, 2029. Consistent with our Mission Statement and the Statement on Addressing Systemic Racism and Inequity in STP, we encourage applications from colleagues who are from underrepresented groups and have diverse backgrounds and experiences. Current committee members may apply.
The charge of the Diversity Committee is to oversee and assess all Society activities related to diversity and equity, including, but not limited to, diversity in membership, integration of diversity into the psychology curriculum, supporting a diverse faculty and student body, and attracting members of diverse groups to psychology as a major and a profession.
We are committed to increasing the presence of people and perspectives from diverse backgrounds into our teaching and psychology as a profession, as well as into the community of the organization as a whole. The committee defines diversity to include (but is not limited to) race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, socioeconomic background, and disability.
Applications will be accepted through December 1, 2026. Applications should include a brief statement of your interest in the Diversity Committee (no more than 2 pages single-spaced, though shorter is welcome) and a current CV. In your statement, please include: possible relevant experience with equity-supporting work, past experiences with STP, and at least one specific idea for a new activity or initiative you would like to see from the Diversity Committee. Send application PDFs to [email protected]. Please put your last name and Diversity Chair in the subject line.
