Open Rank Psychology Faculty

The Department of Psychology & Counseling at Marywood University (Scranton, PA) is seeking applicants for: Open-rank faculty member with a specialization in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or related, applied discipline (e.g., forensic psychology, rehabilitation psychology, neuropsychology, educational or school psychology).

Applicants can apply for ONE of the following ranks:

1. Open-Rank Professor of Psychology (tenure-track, full-time)
   • Minimum Requirements
     • PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, OR an applied area of psychology (e.g., forensic psychology, rehabilitation psychology, neuropsychology, educational or school psychology)
     • Prior teaching experience or evidence of potential for college-level teaching
     • Evidence of research publications and/or professional presentations
   • Responsibilities
     • Seven courses per academic year (3-4 courses per semester)
     • Mentorship of undergraduate and graduate student research
     • Service to the Department, University, and profession
     • Research scholarship

2. Open-Rank Professor of Practice (non-tenure, full-time)
   • Minimum Requirements
     • Masters or doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, OR an applied area of psychology (e.g., forensic psychology, rehabilitation psychology, neuropsychology, educational or school psychology)
     • Licensed preferred
   • Responsibilities
     • Eight courses per academic year (4 courses per semester)
     • Service to the Department, University, and profession
     • Research scholarship and/or professional work (e.g., practice, licensure, certification, field or policy contributions)

The primary responsibility of the position is teaching in the undergraduate Bachelor of Science psychology program. The specific course options would be based on the interests and expertise of the individual. Courses can be taught at any time of day in fall, spring, and/or summer sessions, depending on the individual’s preferences. Review will begin on April 26, 2026 and will continue until filled. Position start-date negotiable (August 17, 2026 OR January 4, 2027).
