Black Hills State University invites applications for a full-time (nine-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology beginning August 2026. We are particularly interested in applicants whose teaching and research interests complement our undergraduate clinical curriculum. The successful candidate will teach courses in personality, abnormal psychology, and additional courses based on departmental need, with opportunities to develop new courses within the candidate’s area of expertise. The Psychology Department has a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research and seeks applicants whose professional goals include ongoing scholarly activity that complements their teaching and provides meaningful opportunities for undergraduate student involvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teach 12 credit hours per semester
• Engage in ongoing scholarly activity that incorporates undergraduate researchers.
• Serve as a mentor to undergraduate students.
• Provide service to the college, university, and professional community.
• Contribute to curriculum development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Earned doctorate in Psychology
• Applicants who are ABD will be considered if all requirements for the terminal degree will be completed prior to August 14, 2026.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience contributing to undergraduate psychology instruction in face-to-face and/or online formats
• Evidence of scholarly activity involving undergraduate students.
