Society for the Teaching of Psychology
Application Deadline: Jan 15, 2026
Society for the Teaching of Psychology

During 2026, we will have 3 task forces that I will describe momentarily. But first, please allow me to explain what being part of one of these task forces might entail and what outcomes could emerge from your efforts.

It is customary for task forces to meet about once each month during the calendar year. Some work could continue into 2027. Each task force writes a year-end report that summarizes its outcomes and that will be shared with the EC.

Ideally, these task forces will present their work at venues such as ACT or APA. It is also possible that a white paper, published article, or e-book could materialize. In addition, these task forces provide a great chance to meet other teachers who share your professional interests.

To be on a task force, one must be an STP member. If you are interested in being a part of one of these groups, please visit this link. The deadline for applications for all task forces is January 15, 2026.

  1. Promoting Faculty Well-Being. This STP Presidential task force will continue the work done by the 2025 task force groups. It will provide additional recommendations and resources to help faculty avoid burnout and ideally flourish in their work. Members of the 2025 task force groups are certainly welcome to apply to continue this work in 2026.

  1. Preparing Students to use AI in the Workforce. This STP Presidential task force will make recommendations and provide tools for teachers to use to help students prepare to use AI as they enter the workforce.

  1. Exploring a Teaching Certification Program. This STP Presidential task force will assess the current selections of teaching certification programs offered by other organizations. It will aim to identify places where STP might be able to add value with its own such program(s).

If you have any questions, please contact your 2026 President, Andrew Christopher, at [email protected]
