Consulting Editor for Teaching of Psychology

The Society for the Teaching of Psychology is taking applications for a Consulting Editor (CE) to serve on the Editorial Board of Teaching of Psychology. This CE will review SoTL manuscripts. Consistent with our Mission Statement and the Statement on Addressing Systemic Racism and Inequity in STP, we encourage applications from colleagues who are from underrepresented groups and have diverse backgrounds and experiences.

 

Below you will find a description of the duties and qualifications, terms of service, and application process.

 

Duties & Qualifications:

  1. Review 8-10 manuscripts per year, including original and revision submissions.
  2. Work side by side with the Associate Editors and Editor of ToP to ensure high-quality publications.
  3. Be versed in current SoTL research, including trends, historical references, etc., as they relate to increasing the quality of education for psychology students.
  4. You must be a current STP member. Membership in APA is not required.

 

Term of Service: This is a 3-year appointment that will start January 1, 2026, and end on December 31st, 2028. 

 

Please include the following in your application:

  1. A one-page letter of application explaining your qualifications for the position and why you are interested in this position. This may include, but is not limited to, how often you review for ToP or other teaching or SoTL-related journals. What topics related to the teaching of psychology do you have expertise in?
  2. A current CV.
  3. The contact information for two references who can provide detailed information about your qualifications for this position.
