Assistant Professor of Psychology Lander University

The Department of Psychological Science & Human Services at Lander University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin in August 2026. Salary is competitive and based upon relevant experience. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in developmental psychology by the time of appointment.

The successful candidate must be qualified to teach General Psychology, Lifespan Development, Psychology of Childhood, and Adolescent Development, as well as courses related to their specialization. University-level teaching experience in face-to-face format is required. Evidence of scholarly productivity and the potential to involve students in research is strongly preferred. The candidate should be committed to teaching excellence, willing to contribute to collaborative efforts in recruitment, retention, and overall departmental growth, and work effectively with a diverse student population.

This position would involve teaching at the main campus in Greenwood and possibly online. Summer teaching assignments are available and merit additional compensation. This position includes responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, and service. The teaching load is 24 hrs. per year (4 courses per semester). Faculty members also advise and mentor students, serve on university and departmental committees, and develop and maintain an active scholarly research agenda that includes involving and mentoring students.

The Department offers a B.S. in Psychology, B.S. in Human Services, and minors in Child and Family Studies, Human Services, Pre-Social Work, and Psychology in face-to-face and online delivery modes. Lander supports on-going training and professional development through its Center for Faculty Excellence.
