The Department of Psychology and Sociology at the University of North Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology position, beginning August 2026. While the area of specialty for this position is open, candidates with a background in clinical psychology are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate for this position is committed to and has a record of exemplary teaching at the undergraduate level and can demonstrate commitment to and a record of academic research with undergraduate students. Candidates with the ability to teach multiple courses from the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: general psychology, abnormal psychology, physiological psychology, and clinical psychology. Instruction in advanced courses in the candidate’s area of expertise is also encouraged. Experience in online teaching or a willingness to learn how to develop and teach online courses is required. The University of North Alabama is the state’s oldest public university and sits on a beautiful 130-acre campus in historic Florence, Alabama. Florence is located within a four-city area on the banks of the Tennessee River known as the Shoals, which is steeped in arts, culture, and entertainment—and is home to the famous Muscle Shoals sound.

Standard teaching load is twelve (12) credit hours per semester (traditional and online). Additional duties will include academic advisement of students, advising and mentoring student organizations, and involvement with professional psychology organizations.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Psychology from an accredited university (ABD will be considered).
