Compensation for under 5 credits is $1,650 per semester credit. Those teaching more than five credits are temporary part-time employees and can move to the faculty salary schedule.

 

This adjunct position will remain open for 1 year to allow departments’ access to candidate pools when there is a need to hire an adjunct to teach a course(s) during defined academic semester(s).

 

ABOUT THE POSITIONS AND THE PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAM AT NORMANDALE

Normandale Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to join the Psychology Department. The members of the Psychology Department are committed to providing a solid foundation in psychology to students of all backgrounds. We believe in supporting a quality education experience that provides learning opportunities for our diverse student body. Example courses include Introduction to Human Development, Psychology of Gender, and Psychology of Personality. Normandale Community College is striving to achieve racial equity in educational outcomes. Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree with a major in psychology or
  • Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in psychology.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework beyond the Master’s degree
  • Post-secondary teaching experience
  • Experience serving diverse and underserved populations
  • An understanding of the community college mission and its unique population
  • Experience in online learning and/or course delivery using web-based course management systems such as D2L
  • Experience in using innovative teaching and learning approaches
  • Experience providing specific strategies to create a sense of belonging within the classroom
  • Experience teaching courses with innovative teaching practices to support the success and retention of underrepresented students, including students of color, first-generation students, and Pell eligible students
  • Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Demonstrated commitment to collegial activities - service on committees, developing assessment, and guiding students
