New Mexico Tech (NMT) invites applications for a full-time, Instructor of Education to begin in
August 2025, in the STEM Education Center. Applicants should have a Master’s in Education or
a closely related field, at least three years of K-12 teaching experience, and a valid New Mexico
(or national) K-12 teaching licensure. A doctorate in Education or a closely related field is
desired. Ability to teach Education courses, model teaching instruction, evaluate teachers, and
coordinate mentors within local K-12 schools, is required. The individual hired should have an
educational background and experience to provide students with the knowledge and skills
needed to become successful K-12 teachers in the state of New Mexico. The individual should
help raise the profile of the programs through the quality instruction, advising, and mentoring of
students, and their contributions to the STEM Education Center, institute, local K-12 schools,
community, and profession through relevant service.
New Mexico Tech currently has accreditation from NM Public Education Department (NMPED)
for three Teacher Licensure Programs: Graduate Certificate in 1) Secondary Alternative
Licensure Program (ALP), 2) Elementary ALP, and 3) Undergraduate Minor in Secondary
Education (UMSE). This person will interact mainly with the Director of the STEM Education
Center, the chairperson of their home academic department, faculty, students, and office staff.
This is a standard 9-month non-tenure track position, additional opportunities to participate in
grant-funded programs or education research are available.
