Classification Summary:
The Department of Psychology at New Mexico State University invites applications for a non-tenure track College Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2025.

Classification Standard Duties:
The successful candidate will engage in teaching, service, and outreach. The position carries a teaching load of four courses per semester, primarily at the undergraduate level.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
A Ph.D. in Psychology (in hand by hire date) is required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Our current faculty have teaching interests in Cognitive and Social Psychology and Research Methods and Statistics. We are interested in candidates whose teaching interests include, complement, and supplement our existing course offerings. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach courses in Developmental Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. Other desired areas of teaching interest include Health Psychology, Psychology and the Law, Abnormal Psychology, Engineering Psychology, Psycholinguistics, and/or the History of Psychology.

NMSU is the nation’s only Land Grant Institution that is also classified as both a Carnegie High Research Activity Institution and a Hispanic Serving Institution. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to an educational environment that supports learning for individuals from diverse backgrounds. Although the primary focus of the position is undergraduate teaching, there may be opportunities to supervise students in research and to teach graduate classes.
